XPB Locker can help you design your restroom layout when
you are measuring
restroom stall dimensions for school bathrooms. Different layouts require different
standards of measurements for the proper positioning of partitions, pilasters,
door, toilets, and accessories in the right locations.
We are always willing to assist contractors
save time in working out these complex diagrams and developing a free design
drawing with every toilet
partition quote. With a few
basic measurements that must be taken from within the restroom itself by the
contractor in the field, we can develop the specifics of both standard and ADA
compliant stall units so that any necessary customization of hardware can be
passed on to the manufacturer at the time of purchase.
Regardless of the layout or mounting style,
the same basic conventions apply to all measurements. Compartment width is determined either
by the distance between two walls, the distance between a wall and a panel, or
by the distance between two panels.
The distance between the front edge of the pilaster and the back wall
determines compartment depth. The
opening size of the door is determined by the distance between two pilaster
edges. A standard 30 inches must be
added to the door opening size to create an inswing for the door that will clear
the front of the toilet.
Depending on how you mount your partitions,
other factors will also come into play when measuring restroom stall dimensions
for school bathrooms. When
configuring and overhead braced layout, it is necessary to have a ceiling that
is at least 88 inches above the door so that the top of the head rail will
measure 85 inches from the floor.
Ceiling hung
or floor-to-ceiling mounted pilasters require measuring the
distance between the ceiling and the floor. If you are dealing with a floor that
slopes 1 inch or more, please measure the distance between the floor and ceiling
in the places where you intend to mount pilasters. We will note this in your free design
drawing and make certain that your pilasters are manufactured at the right
dimensions prior to shipment.
When configuring wall-to-wall layouts, it
is very important to remember that the most critical measurement is the shortest
point between the walls. The
position of the walls will in turn determine the locations of the panels and
doors. Measurements should be taken
from the baseboard when determining pilaster locations.
More challenges will occur when contractors
encounter wall treatments that create varying spaces between parts of the
wall. When measuring
restroom stall dimensions in school bathrooms with cove moldings, windows,
baseboard heaters, and windows, contractors should notify XPB Locker of these
variations so we can develop the appropriate workaround and notate your free
design drawing accordingly.
In time sensitive projects, it is best to rely upon the
help of others than can avert the possibility of costly design errors and design
installation beyond project deadline.
