Commercial
showers for recreational facilities are either group showers or individual
showers. The difference between
the two types of showers lies in how water is distributed to the user(s). Group showers often draw from a single
source of water and distribute it to multiple persons. Individual showers draw from a unique
water source and distribute it to a single user. Both have advantages for recreational
facilities, so conscious analysis of user needs, available space, and shower
room traffic is needed to make the right choice.
Outdoor commercial showers for recreational
facilities are commonly installed near beach areas, public trails, and public
swimming pools. After a long
swim, or a rigorous hike, there are many reasons why people would want to rinse
off. Sea salt, sand, sweat,
chlorine, and dust cling to the skin and need to be removed before a person
changes into clean clothes. Beach showers
allow people who are wearing swim trunks to take a quick rinse in the open
without the need for a shower room or shower stall. This gets a person sufficiently clean
that they can dry off, change clothes, and be on their way in a matter of
minutes. Because they are meant to
be used out in the open, these column showers are designed to service multiple
users at once.
Indoor facilities have a greater need for
privacy. Showers in these places
can either be group showers or individual showers. Regardless, both types can be configured
to offer each individual user his or her own private space while taking a
shower. This is done with solid
plastic shower dividers or shower partitions placed between individual shower
heads and controls. Partitions can
be fitted with no site doors and larger panels for total, site free
enclosure. Other units can be
fitted with shower curtains that hang between the dividers or
partitions.
Deciding whether or not to invest in
individual commercial
showers for recreational facilities or group showers can be a perplexing
challenge for many facility managers.
The decision on which models to buy can be narrowed down by balancing two
very important factors: available space and available plumbing
connections.
In a narrow shower room, there may be very
little floor space for a column
shower. Installing wall
mounted assemblies that require multiple plumbed connections may prove better
for a narrow interior than a group shower with a single connection. There are many models we can recommend
that, in spite of the fact they require individual water sources, still conserve
water by regulating its use.
In a larger shower room, you may benefit
more from installing circular
showers with barrier free shower stalls or column showers with privacy
dividers. This will convert
open floor space into multiple shower stalls that can service a large number of
guests. Gymnasiums, private health
clubs, and large natatoriums find that this is the most efficient way to service
many different people at once with a smaller number of actual shower assemblies.
