Bradstone Wash Fountains are recent introductions into the market of washfountains for high-traffic areas. The name is derived from the material used to construct the bowl, which is a light weight plastic that has been strengthened with reinforced polyester resins, inorganic fillers, and fade resistant pigments. It is designed to be versatile and low cost relative to other bowl materials. And the single, continuous bowl surface reduces cleaning time.
Bradstone Wash Fountains are widely found in health care, recreational, educational, commercial, corrections, manufacturing, and repair facilities. They are also suitable for retrofit applications. Their popularity is due to their low cost and the fact that they can be used in a wide range of applications. The Bradstone material is very durable and chemical resistant. It is not as visually attractive as other bowl materials and it possesses less vandal resistance. The washfountains are shipped with a preassembled pedestal and valve set for easier installation. When combined with a deep bowl design, the washfountain is not ADA compliant. Bradstone is available in two colors, carbon and sandbox.
The Classic Bradstone Wash Fountain is one of the more popular designs that utilize the Bradstone bowl. It is designed for high-traffic areas and features a nine-inch deep bowl. This model is appropriate for moderate to heavy duty hand and arm washing. The bowl can be ordered in thirty-six inch or fifty-four inch semi-circular or circular models. These wash fountains have a non-sectional sprayhead ring that deters vandalism. Various models can be ordered with foot control water activation and automatic shut-off valves. Models with infrared sensors will also have automatic water shut-off. Other available options include metering valves and electronic push button activation.
Bradstone Wash Fountains are available that will service three, four, five, or even eight users simultaneously. This is an ideal solution for stadiums, schools, and manufacturing facilities. The accompanying pedestals are made from twenty percent recycled plastic and are colored neutral gray. The pedestals are built with a tapered design that resists scuffing and saves space. Most washfountain models conceal the water supply, waste valves, and connections within the pedestal to reduce vandalism.
Bradstone Wash Fountains are easily cleaned and maintained. Routine or daily cleaning should be done with a detergent and water. Caustic or abrasive cleaners should not be used because they can etch or damage the surface. On a periodic basis the Bradstone bowl should be cleaned, dried, and then waxed with a quality automotive wax. The automotive wax will make the bowl easier to clean and give it a layer of protection. There are no repair kits available for Bradstone bowls.
It is important to select the right washfountain for the desired application. One of the first decisions to be made should be which bowl material to use. Another factor to consider is whether the application requires light, moderate, or heavy duty hand washing. Deep bowls are generally selected for moderate to heavy duty hand washing while shallow bowls are selected for light to moderate hand washing. Configurations can include linear, circular, semi-circular, and corner designs. The method of water activation is another important factor. And finally, the client must decide if an ADA compliant model is appropriate for the desired application.
