Many industrial facilities, office environments, retail
establishments, and recreational centers prefer wall lockers. These small, box shaped storage
compartments have a number of features that offer direct benefits to each of
these facility types. Understanding
how these units can be used is every bit as important as understanding their
technical specifications. XPB
Locker Supply is more than happy to help offer suggestions as to which
particular model to buy. We will
also order units customized to client specification, and we will offer
consultative design guidance in recommending the best configurations of various
units.
Retail establishments typically invest in
this style of locker for two reasons.
The first reason is space management. Typically, employee lockers are
going to be located either in the break room or the storeroom. Break rooms already have too small of a
space to accommodate larger locker assemblies, and storerooms in even the larger
stores need their square footage for product storage.
Box lockers
offer the perfect size and mount for these tight spaces. Units measure 12 inches wide by 12
inches high and 12 inches deep.
Mounting directly to the wall, they make it possible to leave every inch
of floor space in the storeroom available for other tasks and product
housing. In break rooms, wall
lockers can be installed right over countertops, or right alongside of the wall
where the time clock is located. In
both cases, store employees have a secure, personalized space in which to store
valuables, personal cell phones, and car keys.
While these lockers are small in comparison
to others, they anticipate the need for clothing storage by including a coat rod that is mounted to
the underside of the assembly.
This coat rod is large enough for employees who change into their
uniforms to hang pants, shirts, and dresses neatly while they work the sales
floor during their shift. The
combination of a locker assembly with a clothing storage mechanism is another
reason why many industrial and office environments also prefer smaller lockers
that attach to the side of the wall.
Many factories and warehouses require workers to wear either a uniform or
some kind of protective clothing, so a secure place that takes up limited space
and also keeps personal clothing neat and fresh is an added plus to any
facility, large or small.
Offices that only want to use wall lockers
for employee storage of valuables can order a locker assembly without the coat
hanger attached. This will
allow them to mount the units directly to the wall right over the countertop or
a shelf. Due to their compact size,
many office managers also order these lockers
to have a safe, central storage area for office supplies and other company
property that employees often have to borrow and return.
Finally, many apartments, office buildings,
college dorms, and day spas have small recreational areas that are too small to
have a dedicated locker room, but still have a need to offer some kind of secure
storage to guests. Again,
ventilated metal lockers mounted to the wall provide the most secure place for
storing valuables and keeping day clothes dry.
Another wall locker option that is very basic and requires only a
small amount of floor space is the plastic Lenox cubby
locker. These plastic, open
storage units are ideal for classrooms and work rooms where theft is unlikely
and where the convenience of the open style is preferred above a locked
unit. These lockers can be
configured in a single vertical row to fit into one corner, or they can be
configured in rows and columns like metal lockers. The HDPE plastic they are made from is
vandal resistant and moisture resistant.
