Employee dressing room lockers must be able to store
both equipment and clothing. They must also be super
resilient. This is because they are
often installed in Industrial work areas where environmental conditions are
far from ideal. Protective gear,
special tools work boots, valuable, uniforms and clothing for daily life
must all be stored in these lockers at some point or another.
They must therefore be tough enough to withstand
constant wear and tear, secure enough to store sensitive equipment and
valuables, and have segmented compartments that allow different types of items
to be organized efficiently.
Lockers
are made from either plastic or
metal. Plastic is becoming more highly favored
as a construction material for a number of reasons. When it is molded in the factory, it is
dyed the desired color prior to being shaped into its final form.
This means
that solid plastic
lockers, like the Lenox® brand, never require
repainting. The quality of the material is such that
it also resists the dents and scratches that notoriously plagued metal lockers
in the past. Most importantly,
however, it resists all forms of corrosion.
Plastic
employee dressing room lockers are ideal for Industrial port environments
with heavy salt air content. They are also the preferred choice for
industrial environments where the atmosphere contains a high level of
pollutants.
Solid
plastic, however, may not be the best choice for environments that require a
more aesthetic look. When a more sophisticated look is
needed, designer lockers are a better choice. These lockers are made from particle
board, but they are laminated with ornamental, colored plastic that gives them
the ability to resistance to impact and humidity.
Still other
environments have neither the need for corrosion nor impact
resistance. Employee dressing room lockers in these
locations are typically made from heavy duty metal. The sizes of these lockers are based
upon what needs to be stored within them.
Some are extra wide to provide both clothing and equipment storage. Others are standard width and are used
mostly for clothing storage.
When very
little storage space is needed, comparatively speaking, 2 tier lockers provide
a compact area for the storage of personal belongings and
valuables. Many
organizations now require that purses, cell phones, smart phones, and other
hand-held devices be locked up at the beginning of the
shift.
Metal
employee dressing room lockers are typically
less expensive than designer and solid plastic
equivalents. When there is no need to resist
corrosion, and there is little risk of abuse, then any standard metal lockers,
one tier metal lockers, and two tier metal lockers are a much more cost
effective choice for the average company, retail store, or office that requires
storage space for individual workers.
For the
storage of uniforms that may be dirty or sweaty, however, it is recommended that
certain organizations invest in vented metal employee dressing room lockers that
allow air to circulate through the interior. Venting prevents odor, mold, and mildew
from building up. It also protects
the interior of the locker from
corrosion.
